Occupational Therapy & Care Consultant

Carol became a registered occupational therapist in 1984 after completing her training at the Liverpool College of Occupational Therapy.

Since then, she has gained extensive experience in a variety of clinical and practice areas. She has been involved in assessment and rehabilitation of individuals with physical and cognitive impairments in community-based settings as well as hospitals.

She has experience of assessing and recommending care and case management for individuals with complex disability such as brain/spinal injury and other physical (orthopaedic) and cognitive disability to meet their needs, ensure safety and improve quality of life, working closely with families, carers and agencies.

Carol has particular expertise in the assessment and prescription of interventions in mobility and seating for people with complex health conditions including brain and spinal cord injuries.

Carol has a number of publications in her field of seating and pressure care management and has completed research in this area. Carol’s current clinical practice involves her completing occupational therapy assessments to identify a person’s needs for aids/equipment and care package needs and makes recommendations to achieve the best functional skills and optimize quality of life of the person with disability. She works within a local authority as a senior clinician making recommendations for housing adaptations, seating, and complex manual handling assessments.

Carol has experience as a lecturer at the University of Salford teaching undergraduate Occupational Therapy students.

Carol is instructed by both Claimant’s and Defendant’s Solicitors as an Expert Witness in medico-legal cases.
