Dr Melanie Stephens

Nursing Care Consultant

Melanie is a Senior Lecturer in Adult Nursing and Line manager in the Directorate of Nursing and Midwifery at the University of Salford. She is also a member of the National Wound Care Programme Education Workstream and is currently leading on research evaluating the impact of interprofessional placements in care homes and frugal innovation with colleagues in Uganda and Salford. Melanie regularly authors books, book chapters, academic and research papers in the field of health and social care.

Melanie has vast clinical and care experience of patients with various medical and surgical conditions, including Burns and Plastic Surgery, Gynaecology/Oncology, Surgical and Medical conditions. She is widely accepted as an expert in tissue viability leading the MSc Nursing in Tissue Viability Practice which includes modules on tissue viability and leg ulcer management. Melanie also teaches and supervises nursing students across undergraduate, post graduate and doctoral level studies. She is currently an external examiner at Cardiff University for the MSc Wound Healing.

Melanie prepares Nursing liability reports as well as Care reports dealing with complex nursing issues.
