Consultant Paediatric Neurologist

Dr Clarke has been a Consultant Paediatric Neurologist and Community Paediatrician for 35 years.

His main interest has been the investigation and management of neurodisability in children.

He has led on service developments in autism, acute rehabilitation of children with acquired brain injury and motor disorders e.g. cerebral palsy.

In addition, he has undertaken joint clinics with Community Paediatricians and Consultant Paediatricians and treated and advised on management of a wide range of chronic neurological disorders.

He prepares expert reports and is instructed by solicitors acting for Claimants or Defendants. Much of Dr Clarke’s medico-legal work is concerned with clinical negligence, particularly in respect to birth asphyxia and cerebral palsy and the other major area of interest is personal injury following traumatic brain injury or other forms of acquired brain injury.

His reports cover both causation and liability where appropriate and also present condition, prognosis and life expectancy. Dr Clarke is called as a Witness in Court six to ten times per year and appears in Court as an expert witness once or twice a year.

Dr Clarke has lectured to groups of Solicitors on medico-legal aspects of his specialty including meetings organised by the AVMA.

When Dr Clarke is not busy working he enjoys walking in North Yorkshire.
